Blue Opal, Chalcedony & Agate
These beautiful Blue Opal with Agate banding and Chalcedony rinds are as rare and unique as they are common.
Common Opal is considered Opal that does not have ‘color play’ in it. It has what is known as opalescent, a milky appearance.
Most of the Common Opal found in Oregon is white and opaque. The Blue Opal of Oregon is mainly found as Thunder eggs.
These Blue Opal are much like the Peruvian Blue opal which is also semi-opaque and does not have color play, and Owhyee Opal in the Owhyee Mountains of Oregon, which are less opaque and have beautiful color play.
